Mon’s a big American Idol fan (and he’s infected me with it), and he’s also a big Elliott Yamin fan (I prefer Chris Daughtry). So when he gets a chance to see Elliott Yamin live to promote his self-titled album, he won’t let it pass. Too bad they ran out of tickets for the seats by the time we got there (which was two hours before the show) — we had to take a spot on the second floor of the mall, overlooking the stage area. Because we were a bit far from the stage, I had to zoom in to get a shot of him and the pictures didn’t turn out well. The video quality is bad too, because of the distance and because I used a digital camera to record it, and not a camcorder.

His voice was great. How his voice sounds like on record is exactly how it sounds live. Amazing. Too bad we didn’t get a slot for the autograph signing.

Memorable moments during the event:

• The announcer pronounces his last name as “Yamen.”
• It was an acoustic performance — he had only 3 people with him onstage: the keyboardist, the percussionist, and the guitarist. No drums!
• Elliott said that it was his first performance abroad.
• Onstage, Elliott took out his video camera and took a shot of all the crowd.
• After “A Song for You,” the show was supposed to be over, but the crowd wanted more. All his band members were in the backstage already, and apparently none of them wanted to go back on stage, so he performed “Moody’s Mood for Love” a capella.
• Elliott threw his towel — and about three girls scrambled for it. You can see it at the end of the “Moody’s Mood for Love” video.
• We were passing by behind the backstage, where a crowd has formed, in the hopes of catching a more close up view of Elliott. One girl was shouting, “Elliott, I love you! Elliot, 0917 - .”
